Faculty Members
A native of Nantes ("Naoned" in Breton) in western France, Sébastien Dubreil received his B.A. in Economics and M.A. in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Nantes. He taught Economics and French at a technical high school in France for two years. After working at Sewanee, the University of the South, for two years, Prof. Dubreil moved to Emory University in Atlanta where he received his doctorate in French and Second Language Acquisition. He taught at the University of Notre Dame for four years before returning to Tennessee in 2006.
Sébastien is collaborating on the Bonne Chance project from his current appointment at Carnegie Mellon University.
Cary Staples is Professor of Art in the Graphic Design Program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. An award winning designer, she has focused her work on improving the design of learning materials. She is currently exploring the development of transformative learning moments through game design. Her current projects have been selected for presentation at the annual conferences of the AIGA, American Institute of Graphic Artists, UCDA, University of College Designers Association and GLS, Games + Learning + Society. She is a founding designer of the APP.FARM.
In addition to being a design educator, Cary Staples has done freelance work for a wide range of clients, including Prentice Hall, Simon + Schuster Publishing and the New Orleans Jazz + Heritage Festival. Her designs have been published in HOW Magazine, Communication Arts, and Aldus Magazine. Additionally she has received awards from UCDA, The Advertising Federation and the ADDA.
She has served as an Innovative Technologies fellow and as an Experiencial Learning Fellow she is participating in community outreach projects.
